Subway Franchise History |
Fred DeLuca was a young college student at the time and was looking for ways to help pay his way through school. He had approached Dr. Peter Buck for some capital to help start the business. Fred DeLuca and Dr. Peter Buck opened the first SUBWAY® restaurant in the city of Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA, in the summer of 1965. The company was later incorporated in the name of Doctor's Associates Inc.
The SUBWAY® franchise today is the largest restaurant chain in the world and has just recently passed Mcdonald's.
The SUBWAY® franchise system places a focus on making great sandwiches at a low cost. The Subway franchise system works well because it is structured, provides great vendor relationships and has been designed to be simple and easy to learn. Many Subway franchisees own multiple locations.
